I hope everyone is enjoying their winter break as much as I am!
We went with our family today to the Cincinnati Museum Center. It was so much fun seeing a lot of the science and social studies concepts in person. I hope you can do the same with your families!

And there went November . . .
November was filled with new learning. We learned about Ohio's economy in Social Studies. We got to learn and talk about plants and fossils in Science. We are continuing our journey down Reading Street.
My favorite thing about November was Turkey week! Our students read a letter from a Thanksgiving turkey. This turkey did not want to be put on the Thanksgiving table. The next day the students pretended to be a turkey too. They then wrote speeches declaring that the first turkey would be a better choice for the Thanksgiving table. We all had fun listening to the speeches and a few of our students agreed to have their speech posted on our blog.
Enjoy!

October has flown by! It has been hard to find time to keep up with my Blog!
Did you know that we have learned nearly all there is to know about plants!! We have been working hard this month learning about plant parts and functions. Our Science Journals are full of new learning and thinking.
We have also had a great introduction of Ohio. We have a long way to go, but we have all learned the basic geography and some early history of our wonderful state.
As we enter the month of November we will continue talking about Ohio in Social Studies and we will start learning about life cycles in Science.
Happy Learning!

Can you believe we have been in school for a month! Wow!
I love getting to know all my students and I hope you are enjoying learning about me.
I can't begin to say how impressed I am at the number of you who get your planner signed every night and turn in homework on time. Thank you parents and students for keeping up with these very important habits.
Our first full week in October will be a testing week. I hope everyone remembers to eat a good breakfast before they come to class.

The Start of a New Year

I can't believe how fast this summer went! I hope everyone had a relaxing break so we can start a new year of learning on the 7th.

I have been very busy getting our classroom ready this week. The boxes are unpacked and now I am starting to think about the design of our classroom. It has been a lot of hard work, but it will all be worth it soon!

I can't wait to meet all of my new students at our Open House next week! Hopefully I will be able to have our room completely ready!

Summer Vacation!

Summer Vacation is upon us! I have been waiting for a break all year, and now I find myself impatient for the next school year to start.
I am one of the new members of the Amelia Elementary staff. I have been teaching for 10 years and I love my job. This coming school year I will be teaching fourth grade literacy, SCIENCE, and social studies. Science is my favorite subject to teach! I also love reading and I can't wait to teach social studies for the first time. I hope everyone has a relaxing summer so you can walk through the doors of the new school building ready to work and learn.
